07 Nov 2012 - Members' Workshop: Preparing for the European Driver Training Initiative, Leuven (Belgium)

(DE) (FR)

CIECA is holding a Members' workshop in Leuven (near Brussels) on 7 November 2012 on the subject of driver training and driver instruction.

This seminar aims at providing a first reflection on the future possible evolution of the European driver licensing regime, which could include the introduction of minimum requirements for driving instructors and driving schools and of minimum requirements for driver training.

After the intervention of the keynote speakers, the workshop will be is organised around four themed sessions: 1) Structure of a training and testing framework; 2) Guidelines and minimum standards for training content: What competences should a driver gain before getting licenced?; 3) Guidelines and minimum demands for competences for driving school teachers; 4) Guidelines and regulations for supervision of training and training results.

The workshop will also serve as the kick-off meeting of a CIECA project which aims to create a common framework and core of concrete standards that should support the introduction of minimum requirements for driving instructors and driving schools and of minimum requirements for driver training.

This project falls within the context of the work programme for 2012-2014 and responds to the main action principles set out in the Strategy Paper for 2012-2020 that was approved by CIECA Members on 10 February 2012.
