As we all know, Covid-19 has caused widespread disruption to our everyday lives, creating a “new normal” for countries worldwide with prolonged lockdowns, social distancing measures and stay-at-home regulations introduced. As consumer behaviours have adapted, there are signs that some of these changes will be permanent. Research has shown that 65% of consumers intend to continue with new at-home habits adopted during the crisis, and according to McKinsey1, digital adoption in Europe jumped from 81 percent to 95 percent as a result of the COVID-19 crisis—a rise that would have taken two to three years in most industries at pre-pandemic growth rate.
In the world of practical and theory driving tests, the pandemic has caused testing to be suspended during lockdowns, creating backlogs of learner drivers waiting to test. And as consumer shopping habits have changed, so have consumer expectations for online testing, and systems referred to as “Remote Proctoring” or “Remote Assessment”. All of this creates new challenges for authorities across the world:
- how to scale up at short notice to meet the demand for online testing;
- how to ensure proper ID verification processes are in place;
- how to test securely and entrust test content to at-home testing;
- and how to prevent candidates from cheating or collaborating with others during the test.
In this Webinar, Prometric - a leading provider of technology-enabled testing and assessment solutions, with over two decades of experience in delivering computer based driver theory testing - will discuss these new challenges. We will explore how a combination of human proctoring at scale, secure browser lockdowns and selective use of AI can provide solutions for Authorities seeking a way forward, in order to ensure business continuity and accessibility for learner drivers during the continuing pandemic.
