The dates for the 2023 TAG workshop have already been decided, and the event will take place on 14 - 15 November 2023. The workshop will take place in the office of the Danish Road Traffic Authority in Copenhagen (Address: Amager Strandvej, 390, 2770 Kastrup), thanks to the kind offering of our Danish effective member, the Danish Road Traffic Authority in Copenhagen. We would like to thank them for their help in this matter.
Item writing belongs to the core tasks within the construction of theory tests. Adequate and reliable items are the requirements for a valid test procedure, and thus, for a profound judgement about beginner drivers’ level of knowledge. The upcoming TAG workshop will therefore focus on this topic of outstanding relevance.
With regard to the vast trend of digitalisation in all areas of life, the workshop will address approaches, methods and tools can be used to support the item writing process nowadays. Furthermore, in the workshop different item formats will be discussed and it will be stressed what type of items is most suitable with respect to particular content. Another aspect of the workshop refers to the quality assurance of items, and beyond, to parameters, indicators and tools that provide supportance to item writers and test constructors in order to check how well items differentiate between beginner drivers with adequate or insufficient level of knowledge.
In addition to methodological questions also the content of theory test items are continuously adapting to the developments in road traffic, in the automotive sector and in legislation. Therefore, the workshop will also focus on item development and item writing with respect to new theory test content such as safety aspects of alternatively fuelled vehicles, advanced driver assistive systems (ADAS) or other automation features.
