PRESENTER: Ammar Mohammed Al Attar, Training and Qualification Manager, Drivers Licensing Department
Dubai’s diverse population is close to 200 nationalities, speaking different languages and dialects. In the context of theoretical drivers testing, this poses huge challenge: how to serve this need in a proactive way while ensuring the exam integrity.
Previously, there were 10 translated languages available but this proved expensive to maintain and operationally challenging. Some driving instructors were permitted to conduct face to face interpretations for some languages. This arrangement provided limited solution and served up to twenty (20) languages only. On regular basis, requests for new, unfamiliar languages come and RTA struggles to react. The Remote Interpretation Service (RIS) was introduced in 2017 as an optional service. This is a live, telephonic interpretation service for the RTA Theory Driving Tests in Dubai. Utilizing voice over internet technology (VOIP) and accessing hundreds of professional translators globally. This solution enables RTA to provide high quality interpretation in any language or even dialect proactively, securely.
This webinar will discuss the concept and the operational imperatives which underpin the successful deployment of this service being enjoyed by Dubai’s diverse population up to this day.
